Rose Namajunas has consecutive victories for the first time since moving up to the women’s flyweight division after defeating Tracy Cortez in Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 59 headliner.
Namajunas (13-6 MMA, 11-5 UFC), a former two-time strawweight champion, is seemingly hitting her stride since moving up in weight. “Thug Rose” earned a lopsided unanimous decision win over Cortez (11-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in the main event matchup at Ball Arena in Denver, and is trending toward the chance to fight for a belt once more.

Rose Namajunas sits down Tracy Cortez with a jab about two minutes into the round. Cortez didn’t appear to be too rocked. They’re back up. #UFCDenver

Cortez scales the back of Namajnuas, but she’s too high up, falls off the top. Has a guillotine now though, but Rose is out! #UFCDenver

20-18 Namajunas. Cortez tried to integrate the grappling, but Namajunas neutralized fairly quickly. Namajunas largely dominant thus far. #UFCDenver

30-27 Namajunas
Rose is cruising so far as Cortez enters the championship rounds for the first time in her career in need of a finish.

Cortez is down on the cards, but to her credit, she doesn’t look particularly fatigued despite the elevation and her first time in the championship rounds

40-36 Namajunas. More of the same. Cortez has been unable to put together significant offense. Santino Defranco tells her she needs a finish in Round 5, and he’s correct. #UFCDenver

Midway point of R5. Cortez behind on the cards. This is the time to start swinging for the fences, but Namajunas lands a takedown. Barely has it, and Cortez scrambles to the fence/wall walks up. #UFCDenver

Tracy Cortez loses 25 minutes consecutively to Rose Namjunas – throws he arms in the air at final bell and walks around the cage – preparing well for this L #UFCDenver

With the logjam of Grasso-Shevchenko-Fiorot, I feel like we’re kind of back where we started with Rose Namajunas vs. Maycee Barber being the fight to make #UFCDenver https://t.co/5jBWvvh1Qx
