Tony Ferguson was unable to recapture the magic with his back against the wall at UFC on ABC 7, and it led to Michael Chiesa handing him a record-setting defeat.

Ferguson (25-11 MMA, 15-9 UFC) suffered a UFC record eighth consecutive defeat in a first-round submission to Chiesa on Saturday at Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, and as a result his future is very much in limbo.

“El Cucuy” partially committed to retirement in the octagon, but then made it clear his heart isn’t ready to walk away after taking some more time to digest. Ferguson claims he doesn’t want to fight anywhere but the UFC, but will the promotion give him any further leash after UFC CEO Dana White repeatedly said he wanted this to be the end?
