On several occasions in the past, Conor McGregor has offered public support for Donald Trump, but all it took was one video of the former U.S. president praising Khabib Nurmagomedov to undo it all.

On Monday, a clip from a Trump interview with internet personality Adin Ross made the rounds on social media. In it, Ross asks Trump who are some of his favorite UFC fighters, and Trump immediately names Nurmagomedov, who retired undefeated (29-0) with a submission win over McGregor at UFC 229 in October 2018.

That was enough for McGregor to go off on Trump.

After catching wind of Trump praising his bitter rival, McGregor went on X to publicly humiliate the GOP presidential nominee. McGregor called it a “campaign ending decision” to name Nurmagomedov – not an American fighter – as his favorite.

With Dana White as his longtime good friend, Trump has plenty of support from UFC fighters, one of them being Michael Chandler, who’s in line to fight McGregor upon his return to the cage following a more than three-year absence.

Chandler didn’t appreciate McGregor’s words and rushed to Trump’s defense on X, sparking a back-and-fort between the two of them.

In the wake of the Trump assassination attempt last month, McGregor praised Trump for “running for the love of his country.” Just a few weeks later, that sentiment appears to be gone – and Khabib is to blame.
