MMA’s premier promotion returns to the UFC Apex on Saturday night.
After a few weeks of events across the world, Dana White and co. will head back to their Las Vegas base for a heavyweight fight between two long-time contenders.
Marcin Tybura and Serghei Spivac will headline UFC Vegas 95 in a rematch of their February 2020 bout, which ended in a unanimous decision after three rounds.
Join LowKickMMA as we break down both men’s careers and the best MMA odds before offering you an official prediction of how Tybura vs Spivac II will play out.
Marcin Tybura
Tybura enters this fight as a +125 underdog, despite making it look fairly easy when he beat his opponent over 15 minutes four years ago.
The 38-year-old utilised a wrestling-heavy game plan to win all three rounds on two of the judges’ scorecards, while the dissenting official still thought he won the fight 29-28.
Since then, he’s tasted victory in seven of his nine fights and only lost against the very best heavyweights in Alexander Volkov and interim champion Tom Aspinall.
Greg Hardy, Walt Harris and Alexander Romanov have all suffered defeats against the Polish fighter since he last fought Spivac.
Most recently, Tybura picked up what is arguably the biggest win of his career when he choked out fan favourite KO artist Tai Tuivasa in one round.
It seems pretty harsh that he’s the underdog heading into his rematch with Spivac, and he’ll be looking to prove the oddsmakers wrong this weekend.
Serghei Spivac
Spivac has also been on a bit of a tear since he last fought Tybura.
The 29-year-old appears to be finding his feet in the UFC heavyweight division and has racked up wins over Derrick Lewis, Augusto Sakai, and Aleskei Oleinik.
Spivac’s 6-2 run has been similar to his rivals as he’s fallen short when stepping up to the elite level against Aspinall and most recently Ciryl Gane.
‘Bo Gamin’ stopped him with strikes when they fought last September. After a lengthy spell on the sidelines, he’s now ready to return to the Octagon and the win column.
Despite his recent defeat, there seems to be an overwhelming belief that Spivac is about to peak – that’s why he’s the -150 favourite heading into UFC Vegas 95.
The Moldovan is certainly intent of exacting revenge over Tybura this weekend and the bookmakers think he’s got a very good chance of doing just that.
Official Prediction
This will be a closely contested fight for the first few rounds, but we ultimately expect Spivac’s youth to play a factor over the 25-minute distance.
The 6ft 3in ‘Polar Bear’ will be the hungrier fighter and eventually impose his will on Tybura, who appears to be approaching the end of his impressive 33-fight career.
We believe he could be stopped in the latter rounds but also think he’s just as likely to see the final bell and suffer points defeat against Spivac.
Whatever happens, we are confident Spivac will get his hand raised and that’s why we are backing him to emerge victoriously from the UFC Vegas 95 headliner at odds of -150.
