As his ‘legacy’ fight against Stipe Miocic moves closer, Jon Jones has made a revelation about his career.
‘Bones’ is the current UFC heavyweight champion and has an entire division of hungry challengers all looking toward his throne. Despite rumors of several potential matchups, it now looks like the 37-year-old won’t compete in those fights.
In response to a fan on social media, Jon Jones claimed he doesn’t have long left in the sport. The NJCAA wrestler was being matched up against both Tom Aspinall and Alex Pereira in possible bouts, which Jones teased could happen in the future.
However, that is no longer the case. Although many fans already suggested it, Jones has now confirmed that his next fight inside octagon will likely be his last.
“Fun fact, after this year, Jon Jones will never have to work again,” Jones said regarding his future in the sport. “Retired at age 37. Winning.”
While the promotion hasn’t released much news on his return, reports suggest Jones vs. Miocic will take place at Madison Square Garden on November 16.
UFC 309 at MSG could spell the end for a man considered by many to be not just the greatest mixed martial artist of all time, but also the greatest combat sports athlete to ever live.

Who else is fighting at UFC 309?
Alongside the rumored Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic headliner, UFC 309 has just one confirmed bout on the card. If nothing changes in the next three months, the pay-per-view will feature the returning fan favorite, Chris Weidman.
‘The All American’ will be hoping to extend on his recent and extremely controversial win over Bruno Silva when he competes in November.
Weidman will welcome Eryk Anders to the cage. Anders has won two of his last three fights under the UFC banner, most recently beating Jamie Pickett — in Pickett’s retirement fight — by unanimous decision.
