Amanda Serrano needed less than two rounds to dispatch an overmatched Stevie Morgan to earn her first knockout finish in three years.

The co-main event to the Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry card felt like a mismatch before the fight even started with Morgan freezing up and looking like a deer in the headlights all week long as she faced by far the toughest challenge of her career. Serrano was obviously paying attention because she just came out with ruthless aggression from the opening bell.

Serrano blasted Morgan with huge heavy combinations with no fear of reprisal and it looked like it was only a matter of time before she got the finish. As soon as the second round started, Serrano just unleashed a barrage of punches with Morgan just covering up as she backed against the ropes.

That was all the referee needed to see to stop the fight with Serrano getting the finish at just 38 seconds into the second round.

“It feels great. It feels amazing,” Serrano said about the win. “I am super blessed to be here. It feels pretty amazing. I think these girls are mistaking my kindness for weakness. I respect the women I go up against. But if you’re not on my level, that’s what happens. I knew this may have been a little bit too much for her. She’s strong, she’s a great fighter. Thank you for taking the fight.”

The fight happened largely because Serrano didn’t want to sit and wait until November for her planned matchup against Katie Taylor as part of the card featuring Paul against Mike Tyson. So she found an opponent but Morgan was barely a sparring partner once she stepped through the ropes.

Serrano was teeing off on her with every combination she unleashed and it really felt like it was only a matter of time before she got the stoppage. Thankfully the referee recognized just how much punishment Morgan was absorbing, which is why the fight ended as soon it was clear she had nothing left to offer Serrano.

While it was an emphatic finish, it was far from top notch competition but Serrano definitely enjoyed the win as she now moves onto the highly anticipated rematch against Taylor later this year.

“Hi, Katie,” Serrano said when addressing her next opponent. “I’m ready Nov. 15. I can’t wait to go in there with you once again. This time it’s going to be a lot different.”
