This is the UFC 304 live blog for Leon Edwards vs. Belal Muhammad 2, the main event welterweight title fight on Saturday in Manchester, England.
Back in 2021, Edwards and Muhammad faced off in the main event of a Fight Night card in Las Vegas, with the bout ending in a no contest after an inadvertent eye poke from Edwards. Afterward, “Rocky” went on to fight Nate Diaz, winning a decision that earned him a title shot, where he then scored one of the greatest knockouts in UFC history against Kamaru Usman, a last-minute comeback head kick to finally claim 170-pound gold. Successful title defenses against Usman and Colby Covington followed, and Edwards is now firmly entrenched as one of the pound-for-pound best fighters in the world, and making his way up the ranks of all-time welterweight greats.
After his fight with Edwards ended in a no contest, Muhammad immediately campaigned for a rematch but to no avail. Instead, Muhammad had to go back to climbing the ranks one step at a time, stringing together five straight wins at welterweight, four of which came against ranked opposition. Even that looked like it might not be enough, but ultimately things broke right for Muhammad, who finally gets his shot at redemption and welterweight gold.
