The UFC’s second of four August events took place Saturday with UFC on ESPN 61 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, and although it wasn’t a memorable showcase of the promotion’s talent, the headliner did produce a meaningful result.

Serghei Spivac (17-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC) avenged his 2020 decision loss to Marcin Tybura (25-9 MMA, 12-8 UFC) with a first-round submission victory, marking just one of three stoppage results on the lineup.

The UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance payout for the event totaled $128,000.

Debuting fighters went 1-2 at the event.

Spivac, Toshiomi Kazama and Youssef Zalal earned $50,000 UFC on ESPN 61 fight-night bonuses.

The UFC sold VIP tickets to fans for UFC on ESPN 61, but the promotion did not make public the total number of tickets sold or the gate.

Betting favorites went 8-2 on the card.

Betting favorites improved to 20-7 in UFC headliners this year.

Total fight time for the 10-bout card was 1:57:31.

Serghei Spivac def. Marcin Tybura

Spivac has earned 15 of his 17 career victories by stoppage. He’s finished 11 of those wins in Round 1.

Spivac earned the first armbar submission in UFC heavyweight competition since June 2020.

Tybura suffered the first submission loss of his career.

Chepe Mariscal def. Damon Jackson

Chepe Mariscal (17-6 MMA, 4-0 UFC) has earned three of his four UFC victories by decision.

Damon Jackson (23-7-1 MMA, 6-5-1 UFC) fell to 6-4 since he returned to the UFC for a second stint in September 2020.

Chris Gutierrez def. Quang Le

Chris Gutierrez (21-6-2 MMA, 9-3-1 UFC) improved to 7-3-1 in UFC bantamweight competition.

Gutierrez has earned six of his nine UFC victories by decision.

Quang Le (8-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) had his eight-fight winning streak snapped for the first defeat of his career.

Yana Santos def. Chelsea Chandler

Yana Santos (15-8 MMA, 5-5 UFC) snapped her three-fight losing skid for her first victory since February 2021.

Santos improved to 5-3 since she returned to the UFC women’s bantamweight division in October 2018.

Santos has earned all five of her UFC victories by decision

Chelsea Chandler (6-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) has suffered all three of her career losses by decision.

Toshiomi Kazama def. Charalampos Grigoriou

Toshiomi Kazama (10-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC) has earned nine of his 11 career victories by stoppage.

Charalampos Grigoriou (8-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) suffered the first submission loss of his career.

Karol Rosa def. Pannie Kianzad

Karol Rosa (18-6 MMA, 7-3 UFC) improved to 6-2 in UFC women’s bantamweight competition.

Rosa has earned all seven of her UFC victories by decision.

Jhonata Diniz def. Karl Williams

Jhonata Diniz (8-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) earned the first decision victory of his career.

Karl Williams (10-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) suffered the first decision loss of his career.

Youssef Zalal def. Jarno Errens

Youssef Zalal (15-5-1 MMA, 5-3-1 UFC) improved to 2-0 since he returned to the UFC for a second stint in March 2024.

Zalal has earned 12 of his 15 career victories by stoppage.

Jarno Errens (14-6-1 MMA, 1-3 UFC) has suffered both of his career stoppage losses by submission.

Stephanie Luciano def. Talita Alencar

Stephanie Luciano (6-1-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has earned four of her six career victories by decision.

Talita Alencar (5-1-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) had her six-fight unbeaten streak snapped off the first defeat of her career.
